3 Morning Activities to Start the Day Right

As a new mom, I didn’t have the luxury of time to “start the day right” as they say – in other words, my days of sleeping in to feel rested were over (for now). Now I roll out of bed and immediately turn on “mom mode”. And so, I started to look for small ways to feel even the slightest bit accomplished before getting my son ready for the day. Here are 3 small things I try to do every morning for myself to have a better day!
Quiet Moment (Pray/Meditate/Gratitude)

This could mean different things for everyone. Personally, waking up and taking a few quiet moments to pray helps me to collect myself, rather than immediately getting up and thinking about everything to be done that day, or scrolling through my phone. For others, it could mean waking up and just taking a few deep breaths before starting. Some others may take this time to journal or meditate. Basically, rather than jumping out of bed and starting right away, taking a little quiet time helps to start the day calmly.
Make the Bed

For me, I don’t have an extravagant bed set up with sheets and extra pillows. I literally take the blanket and flip it out into the air, and if all goes well, it settles on the bed neatly. There. One thing accomplished. Doesn’t that feel good?

Drinking water is something I struggle with, and so I find have a water bottle bedside helps a lot. Drinking a glass of water right in the morning is refreshing and supposedly does great things for your metabolism. For me, another small accomplishment – 1/7 glasses done!
And there you go! Of course, I could suggest things like, get up earlier, take a walk, reading… yes, all these things are awesome and kudos to you if you can accomplish these things too! However, morning routines don’t need to be too complicated to start the day right.
